Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts
The Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts has a core curriculum of 5
subjects. Two further subjects in Latin and mathematics can be taken by students in addition to the core units. The BA Liberal
Arts is an integrated program. All courses relate to one another
and cover
the history, philosophy theology and literature of western civilisation.
Thus when studying the history of the reformation, the literature,
theology and philosophy of the same period is also studied.
This degree emphasises that there is an interconnectedness between the discipline areas. There is a synthesis attained by seeing interconnectedness of ideas and perspectives in the different subjects.
nChronological harmony
Offering students a variety of perspectives in the same period so that the realities of life can be viewed through different lenses.
nChronological progression
To give students a sense of historical context, continuity, and change.
nLocal & global vantage points
Allows students the opportunity to study both universal and indigenous cultural expressions.
nComplementarity of faith & reason
As distinct but converging channels of access to the pursuit of truth and the development of a full and integrated mind.
The Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts provides an unique opportunity in Australian education, an integrated, purposeful humanities program that develops the mind.
