Australian Students
Campion has high ideals. Studying at Campion will allow you to enter into a world of literature, history, philosophy and theology, in an atmosphere where the broader issues of today’s world can be openly discussed and commented on. Other sections of this site will explain the career advantages of a Liberal Arts education, but Campion is primarily proud of its ability to teach things of eternal and intrinsic value, and to teach them well.
Unlike what is the case at most universities, in which first-year students may find themselves attending lectures where the audience may number in the hundreds, instruction at Campion involves small class sizes. A high level of class-room interaction with lecturers is one of Campion’s strengths. Our lecturers and tutors have come to us with outstanding teaching and research qualifications, from universities in Australia and abroad.
Our teaching includes the following elements:
- An emphasis on close and thorough reading of recommended texts, which include both primary and secondary sources.
- An emphasis on assimilating the text thoroughly, via active note-taking, exegesis, précis and paraphrase, in order to provide a firm basis for active reflection and criticism.
- An intellectually stimulating class-room environment, fostered by close interaction with lecturers.
- The monitoring of academic progress on a continuous basis, and consequent identification of any problems at an early stage.
Campion cares about you and your progress through its subjects.
Campion also cares about parents and the role they play in advising and encouraging their sons and daughters to take on tertiary education. Information for parents.
