Giving
to Campion > History of the Foundation
The proposal to establish Campion College Australia emerged from the
Campion Fellowship, a national association of Australian Catholics formed
in 1973. The Fellowship shares the desire of a predecessor organisation,
the Campion Society of the 1930s, to foster the intellectual and cultural
life of the Church through programs of educational depth and quality.
It is inspired by the Catholic Church's mission of evangelisation, as
envisioned by the Second Vatican Council and elaborated most notably by
Pope John Paul II.
In 2001, the Campion Foundation was established to build on the work
of these earlier Campion associations. It draws on the inspiration of
St Edmund Campion, the outstanding Oxford scholar and teacher of his day.
