"Where are you from?" It's a relatively simple inquiry - but the answer to this question has eluded Athena's and Campion's newest Program Coordinator, Jane Palmer, for years. Having lived in Canada, England, The Netherlands, and the U.S., she has a range of answers to choose from! Her family moved from Canada to England when Jane was nine months old and she has literally been living international education ever since. Jane's passion for travel was fueled by her experiences as a high school athlete attending an international school in The Netherlands where weekends were spent traveling to different countries to compete against other international schools. These travels even took her to Cairo, Egypt for an end-of-season tournament. After high school, Jane returned to the U.S. to attend Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. She earned her B.A. as a French major and Management minor and played for the women's rugby club. She then moved on to earn her M.A. in Higher Education & Student Affairs from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. While completing her degree, Jane held a graduate administrative associate position with the study abroad team in the Office of International Education, marking the beginning of her professional experience in the field of study abroad. Jane comes to Campion/Athena from The Ohio State University where she served as a Study Abroad Program Coordinator for five years and an International Student Advisor for two. She has extensive experience managing study abroad programs, collaborating with faculty on program development, advising interested, current, and returned students, and serving as an in-country resident director for short-term experiences abroad. "It is incredibly rewarding to assist students navigate the study abroad process and then to watch them develop a new understanding of themselves and the world, to hear how their experiences have shaped their personal and professional lives. Participating in study abroad can be the single-most formative experience of a student's undergraduate career and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help students from throughout the U.S. realize this!"
