Coming to Australia for World Youth Day?
Traveling to Australia is a big commitment and to do so for only the week of World Youth Day would seem like a wasted opportunity to discover a wonderful country and have a truly once in a lifetime experience.
To enable college students to make the most of their time in Australia, as part of the Campion College Summer School, the 3 credit course which is entitled Australian Politics, Culture and Religion, is being offered and open for enrollment by US students participating in World Youth Day. The 40 contact hour Liberal Arts course is coordinated and taught by Dr. Luciano Boscheiro, lecturer in history at Campion College.
The customized Campion World Youth Day Program will run over three weeks commencing on Monday July 7th.
Students will complete a total of 40 hours of coursework (3 credit course) in addition to participation in the week of festivities and events for WYD2008.
Campion will arrange for homestay accommodation with an Australian family for groups wishing to access this accommodation and/or hotel style accommodation if preferred.
There will also be a number of social activities as part of the program, including a visit to a wildlife sanctuary to encounter the local fauna, a night Harbour ‘graduation’ cruise and a day in Canberra, the National capital and seat of Australian government.
Studying this subjects will encourage some students to stay in Australia and study for a full semester at Campion College. Students from North America can change their visas in Australia to student visas although this does involve a cost. However, it would be expected that students wishing to study in Australia for a semester program would need to organize this prior to leaving.
Campion’s program is limited to 120 students and enrolment is based on first come, first served. If you wish to reserve places for a group please let us know as soon as possible. Final enrolments must be finalized by November 30, 2007.
Campion will send an official transcript of the results to the respective college or university to enable transfer credit.
