Bursaries
Bursaries are offered on the basis of demonstrated financial need, in order to assist students during their studies at the College.
Students and their families are expected to make a maximum effort to cover daily living expenses, such as food, accommodation and personal items, from their own resources. If, after assessing these resources, a student finds his or her financial means insufficient, he or she should apply for a bursary.
Bursaries are paid fortnightly into the student’s nominated bank account. For residential students, the bursary is used to offset their accommodation payments. This amount awarded is divided evenly across the number of weeks in each semester.
There are three types of bursaries available:
Residential bursaries are awarded to students to assist them with the payment of residential fees. This bursary is available also to students from outside Greater Sydney who are residing off campus.
Information about a student’s income and his or her immediate family income will be taken into account to assess financial need. Part-time students are eligible to receive this bursary.
The amount awarded for this type of bursary ranges from $2000 to $4000 per annum.
These are one-off payments, awarded upon demonstration of short-term financial need. They assist students who are experiencing serious financial hardship because of personal circumstances. You may apply for a Special Circumstances bursary at any time.
Information about student’s income and his or her immediate family income will be taken into account to assess financial need. Part-time students are eligible to receive this bursary.
The amount awarded for this type of bursary ranges from $500 to $2000 per annum.
These are awarded to students who identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and are experiencing financial difficulties.
The amount awarded for this type for bursary ranges from $2000 to $4000 per annum.
This bursary is for students requiring financial aid who are citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand.
To be eligible, international students must:
- be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree at Campion, or
- have been accepted into a short-term international student exchange at Campion.
Information about a student’s income and his or her immediate family income will be taken into account to assess financial need.
The amount awarded for this type for bursary ranges is capped at $2000 per annum.
How to apply for a bursary
Every bursary application must be accompanied by the following kinds of supporting documentation, which should be tailored to the particular type of bursary for which a student is applying.
- Bursary Application Form;
- Written Statement (one page outlining why you believe you should be the recipient of this type of bursary)
- Individual or family tax returns;
- Department of Human Services assessment of family entitlement to other benefits, such as Family Tax Benefit;
- Either:  A Letter of Advice from the Department of Human Services regarding approval/refusal of benefits; or A copy of an estimate from the Department of Human Services online calculator, indicating estimated benefits based upon an accurate representation of financial circumstances; and
- Any other impartial financial assessments.
Applicants of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Bursary must submit a written reference by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community member who knows the applicant in that community.
Your bursary application will be incomplete until all documents have been received. All documentation provided to the College as part of a bursary application will remain strictly confidential.
