LEARNING CENTRE WORKSHOPS
The Learning Centre runs a number of workshops in semester 1. These are designed to assist students transitioning into tertiary education and assist them in understanding the requirements of scholarly activity. The workshops are focused on key skills and practises, providing a foundation for students to develop over the course of the semester. The topics range from how to navigate and use the library catalogue, to how to have a study-life balance though effective time and stress management.
During semester 2, the Learning Centre conducts workshops to prepare students for the workforce and life after Campion. These practical workshops aim to help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to obtain work while studying, determine their career preferences, and apply for further study and job opportunities after graduating.
Workshops may include:
Navigating the Library Catalogue
Effective Oral Presentations and Public Speaking
Referencing and How to Avoid Plagiarism
Essay Planning and Writing
Stress and Time Management
Referencing, Bibliographies and Abstracts
Succeeding in Exams
CAREERS PLANNING AND FURTHER STUDIES
Campion students and prospective students considering their career options and further study after graduation are invited to discuss their interests with the Dean of Studies or Associate Dean of Studies. The Dean’s Office is able to assist students in finding the most suitable pathways into further studies and careers, based on each students’ demonstrated abilities and career goals.
Every second year Campion hosts a Postgraduate Information session with advisers from several institutions in Sydney offering courses in areas most commonly pursued by Campion graduates, including education, philosophy, theology, history, classics, and social work.
