About Campion College
Campion College is Australia’s first tertiary liberal arts college. We celebrate the humanities at the heart of the Western intellectual tradition – literature, philosophy, theology, history, and the study of languages and culture. These disciplines are not simply subjects to be learned; they are the foundations of a rich education that shapes the whole person and has guided human flourishing for centuries.
Our undergraduate degree is grounded in the traditional liberal arts model, an enduring form of education that opens the mind to truth and meaning. Through a carefully integrated curriculum, students encounter the great works, ideas, and questions that have formed Western civilisation. This is not an education for one profession alone, but a formation for every sphere of life – nurturing intellectual depth, moral clarity, and cultural understanding.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a foundational education in the liberal arts that integrates the insights of faith and reason. Students are immersed in the spiritual, moral, intellectual, and cultural traditions of Christianity, while developing a deep understanding of its role in the history of Western civilisation.
In this spirit, Campion College safeguards the search for truth by keeping in balance a range of intellectual freedoms. These acknowledge:
• The right of individual scholars to “search for the truth, wherever analysis and evidence lead them” (Pope John Paul II, Ex Corde Ecclesiae).
• The right of students not to be misled or victimised.
• The right of the university to have its defined identity and purpose respected.
• The right of the community to have the common good protected.
This mission shapes all of Campion College’s work – from the Bachelor of Arts in the Liberal Arts to our postgraduate degrees – which focus on professional development for religious education teachers in Catholic primary and secondary schools. Both levels of study share the same vision: to form minds and hearts through the integration of faith and reason.
