What can the life of a teenager who died at just 15 teach us about holiness in the modern world?

This question was at the heart of a special address delivered at Campion College by Kate Hobbs, President of Friends of St Carlo Acutis Australia, during the visit of the saint’s Major Pilgrim Relic on 1–2 September 2026.

Drawing on her personal involvement in bringing St Carlo’s Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition to Australia and accompanying his relic on its nationwide pilgrimage, Mrs Hobbs offered a compelling account of the young saint’s life, faith and remarkable influence.

Her address explored the foundations of St Carlo’s spirituality, particularly his profound devotion to the Eucharist, regular prayer and confession, and quiet acts of charity towards those around him. She also reflected on his fascination with technology and how he harnessed his computer skills to document Eucharistic miracles and communicate the Catholic faith to a new generation.

Mrs Hobbs went on to recount the miracles attributed to St Carlo’s intercession and explain the significance of his Major Pilgrim Relic, which contains a portion of the membrane surrounding his heart.

Underlying her reflections was a powerful reminder that St Carlo’s holiness was not found in extraordinary circumstances, but in the deliberate choices of an otherwise ordinary young man. His example, she suggested, offers a particularly timely invitation to rediscover the centrality of the Eucharist and the possibility of sainthood in everyday life.
