Looking for helpful guidance on how to compose effective responses under exam conditions?

In 2022, Campion College will be delivering a series of HSC Workshops, presented in partnership with Veritas Academy.

Workshop topics include:

• 31 Aug: Othello & The Merchant of Venice
• 14 Sep: George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four
• 4 Oct: William Shakespeare (Online workshop)
• 5 Oct: Creative Writing & Critical Reflection (Online workshop)

Workshop cost

Who should attend?

Workshops are open to students in Years 10-12.

They are specifically designed for Year 12 students preparing for their upcoming HSC examinations.

Year 10 and 11 students who wish to build their capabilities are also encouraged to attend.

What to expect

Participants will receive insightful guidelines from an experienced HSC teacher on how to construct effective responses under exam conditions. Students will also leave the workshop with a greater understanding of the social, historical and philosophical context that shaped various authors and their works, which will bring students to a deeper understanding of the texts they are studying.

All participants will receive a PDF at the end of the workshop containing presentation slides and addional tips.

This workshop will provide an in-depth study of William Shakespeare's Othello and The Merchant of Venice, as part of the most popular combination of Shakespearean texts in ‘Common Module: Texts and Human Experience’. This workshop is designed for students in the English Advanced course by an experienced HSC English teacher.
George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four
7.00-8.30pm (on-campus)
This workshop will provide an in-depth study of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, as the most popular prescribed text in the Advanced English ‘Common Module: Texts and Human Experience’. This workshop will focus on George Orwell’s context, purpose, and key insights in the text.
William Shakespeare Workshop
7.00-8.30pm (online workshop via Zoom)
This workshop will focus on the social, historical and philosophical context of William Shakespeare, and the key insights in his writing. This workshop is designed by an experienced HSC English teacher and will be invaluable to Advanced English students in ‘Common Module: Text and Human Experience.
Creative Writing & Critical Reflection Workshop
7.00-8.30pm (online workshop via Zoom)
This workshop will focus on Creative (Imaginative) Writing, as part of ‘Module C: The Craft of Writing', and Critical Reflections. Students will receive insightful guidelines from an experienced HSC English teacher on how to compose effective imaginative texts, using examples from Band 6 responses.

Daniel is an experienced Secondary Educator, public speaker, writer and founder of Veritas Academy.
