A Weekend of Academic Engagement and Reflection

17 Apr 2024

Campion College recently hosted an enriching Intellectual Retreat from 12-14 April, drawing an intimate gathering of passionate individuals eager to delve into academic texts and foster intellectual growth.

The weekend offered attendees a unique opportunity to participate in stimulating sessions led by esteemed faculty members. Dr Paul Morrissey, Dr Stephen McInerney and Dr Jeremy Bell each contributed their expertise, guiding participants through thought-provoking discussions and sharing their knowledge on various topics in literature, philosophy and theology.

After-hours networking drinks were held in the serene ambiance of the library, providing attendees with a relaxed setting to connect, share ideas, and build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals.

The highlight of the retreat was a delectable three-course meal accompanied by a keynote address from Dr Stephen Chavura. His talk titled "Once Upon a Time in the West: The Importance of Western Civilisation for Self-Understanding" captivated the audience, exploring the profound impact of Western Civilisation on our self-understanding and cultural identity.

Looking ahead, Campion College is excited to continue this tradition of intellectual exploration and engagement. Plans are already underway to offer the Intellectual Retreat again next year, promising another weekend filled with learning, reflection, and camaraderie.
