Campion students compete at LIFTED Sports Day

26 May 2021

Over a dozen students represented Campion College at the LIFTED Sports Day last Sunday, 16 May. Over 200 young adults, high school students, seminarians and priests from across Western Sydney gathered at Parramatta Marist High School, Westmead, for the Catholic Youth Parramatta initiative, now in its eleventh year.

Following an outdoor Mass celebrated by Fr Jack Green from Mary, Queen of the Family Parish, Blacktown, 11 teams competed in a round-robin tournament in four different sports – basketball, touch football, soccer and volleyball. Despite the chilly morning air, puffer jackets and scarves were abandoned in favour of team colours as everyone took to the field, eager for the competition to begin.

Embracing the day of fun, faith and fitness, our students demonstrated unmistakable team spirit and sportsmanship. Between all the goals, baskets, serves and passes, our players offered up too many MVP-worthy moments to count!

A special thanks to team captain Harriet Schmude and second-year student Julian Vieira who were instrumental in organising and coordinating the Campion team, as well James Camden and Qwayne Guevara at Catholic Youth Parramatta for all the planning that went into such a special day.
