Young adults flock to Regency-themed Campion Ball

27 Sep 2023

The annual Campion College Ball, held on Saturday, September 16, unfolded as a truly regal affair, captivating over 300 attendees from various corners of Australia including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. The event, now firmly established as a highlight in the Sydney Catholic social calendar, brought together a vibrant community of young Catholic adults in a night of celebration and camaraderie.

Under the resplendent theme of "A Regal Affair," guests graced the event adorned in elegant regency attire, complete with gloves and other refined accessories. The meticulously planned entertainment and overall atmosphere were perfectly set against the stunning backdrop of Campion College’s new Academic Centre and Grand Hall.

One of the highlights of the evening was ballroom dancing, where guests waltzed and twirled to the rhythms of a string trio, adding a touch of timeless elegance to the affair. Following this, the mood transitioned seamlessly with a lively jazz band and a skilled DJ, ensuring a diverse range of musical tastes were catered to.

Julian Vieira, President of the Campion College Student Association, marvelled at the enthusiastic participation, stating, "It was unreal to see so many people get involved in all the different types of dancing, in particular the ballroom dancing.”

Tony Matter, Student Life Officer at Campion College, provided valuable mentorship and support to the Ball Committee this year as they worked tirelessly to organise the event. Reflecting on evening, he shared, "It was amazing to see so many students utilise and grow their leadership skills to deliver such a spectacular and successful event. In particular, the Ball Committee President, Anita Donaldson, who chaired countless student meetings, was able to bring all parties together to showcase the wide range of gifts and talents our students possess."

Additional photos and footage from the evening will be available on the Campion College website and social media channels in due course.
