The Campion Theatre Society delighted audiences with its recent production of You Never Can Tell by George Bernard Shaw, performed on 18–19 October 2025. Directed by second-year Caleb Smith, the witty and fast-paced play transported viewers to an English seaside town at the turn of the twentieth century, where the eccentric Clandon family’s tangled past unfolds with humour and heart.

The production featured a talented ensemble cast, including Ambrose Lawrence as Valentine, Mary d’Assumpcao as Gloria Clandon, Miette Salinas-Byrne as Mrs Clandon, Edward Roskam as Phillip Clandon, and Claire Hill as Dolly Clandon. Rounding out the cast were Joachim Tonkin as Mr Crampton, Philip Deane as Mr Finch McComas, Sebastian Clare as Mr Bohun, Xavier Wall as William the waiter, and Catherine Van Rensburg as the parlour maid. Behind the scenes, the society’s president Faustina Yeo managed the script, stage hire, and costumes, with Simon Dahdah serving as assistant director and Reshan Weerakody overseeing lighting and sound.

The show was praised for its sharp comic timing, engaging performances, and stylish period staging. In his director’s note, Caleb commended his cast for their dedication and enthusiasm, noting the months of teamwork and creativity that brought the production to life.

The success of You Never Can Tell stands as a testament to the passion, talent, and camaraderie within Campion’s theatre community — proving that when creativity takes the stage, you never can tell what magic will unfold.
