Salvatore Babones: who inherited Western Civilisation?
Campion welcomed American sociologist, writer and Associate Professor Salvatore Babones to speak at formal hall last week.
Assoc. Prof. Babones gave assembled students and staff a fascinating lecture on the development of Western Civilisation in England, compared to Europe.
His speech encompassed the history of the Anglo-Saxons, including the etymological origins of the various Gothic tribes, as well as other curiosities.
We thanks Assoc. Prof. Babones for his visit and his fascinating talk - the first formal hall lecture delivered by a guest speaker outside the Campion community since 2019!
Following his speech, first-year students Jaidan, Daniel and Matthew performed "Sparks" by Coldplay.
